Dunster Castle
Dunter Castle lies in the village of Dunster, Somerset, England. It was a former motte and bailey castle located at the top of a hill. The castle was sold by the de Mohuns to the Luttrell family in the 14th century and occupied until given to the National Trust in 1976. It is now a tourist attraction.
Roles
Butler - Chief male servant of the household and in charge of all household staff
Housekeeper - Employed to manage the household and staff
Groom - Looking after the horses
Valet - Personal attendant to male employers of the house
Lady's Maid - Personal attendant to female employers of the house
Cook - Responsible for preparing meals and anything to do with the kitchen
Footman - Junior to the butler and expected to serve meals, tending to the door and running errands
Housemaid - Assist with household cleaning and other duties, they were below housekeepers but above kitchen staff
Domestic Servant - Assist with household cleaning and other duties, they were below housekeepers but above kitchen staff
Hallboy - Lowest ranking male domestic worker in the household responsible for cleaning chamber pots, boots of the family and other servants and waiting on other servants in the servants hall
